The Code CR1400 barcode scanner is a compact and durable reader featuring a high performance scan engine and a patented dual-field optical platform. Its intuitive targeting reticle (unique single, blue targeting beam) and omni-directional scanning capability make reading linear and 2D barcodes extremely fast and reliable. The CR1400 features an IP54 seal which prevents internal dust accumulation and protects against water splashes from any direction. This environmental defense combined with an ability to withstand multiple six foot drops makes the CR1400 barcode scanner an effective tool in harsher healthcare, retail, and manufacturing work places. In healthcare applications, the CR1400 can scan all standard barcodes, including difficult to read codes found on items such as syringes, IV bags, and items with extra plastic wrapping. Along with its rugged design, the scanner’s diminutive size lends itself towards use in mobile ticketing or even patrol vehicles.
The CR1400 offers 128 MB Flash ROM, 32MB RAM, option of high density or wide field scanning and the ability to edit scanned data via commonplace JavaScript. (Additional License Required) The Code imager is also able to output scanned images in the format of JPEG or Bitmap.

The CR1400 is a mere 5.5 inches tall, that is just about the average length of a ball point pen or mechanical pencil. This is useful for environments where space is at a premium and every inch of counter space counts.
Note that while the CR1400 reliably reads 1D barcodes from screens, it does not always read 2D barcodes from screens.
