Thankfully, they provide the same peace of mind, albeit with different names. These contracts extend the standard warranty, and often cover damage that may be exempt from standard warranty repair. Though extended warranties may seem superfluous and unnecessary, the prompt turnaround and guaranteed fast replacement can help turn a potential business disaster into a mere rough afternoon.

Motorola Service From the Start
Motorola/Symbol's service plans provide a tiered structure for replacing and repairing your barcode scanner or mobile computer, well beyond the standard warranty. The Bronze program offers repair with 3-day turnaround; within 3 days of the broken scanner arriving at Symbol, a replacement will be on your doorstep. The Gold program goes the extra mile, providing next-business day advance replacement. You'll also receive priority phone response time, excellent when diagnosing stubborn barcode scanners or mobile computers.

Metrologic Service Plans
Metrologic's service plans extend the warranties of their products up to five years, and are available as a Silver and Platinum service plan. The Silver Service Plan offers a 10-day, in-depot turn around with shipping costs covered. The Platinum Service Plan features a more comprehensive coverage plan, wherein a replacement is shipped next-day as soon as contact is made with support.

Unitech Protection Plus
Unitech's Protection Plus plans extend their standard warranty, as well as provide a more comprehensive coverage plan. The Extended Warranty, as named, provides the same coverage as the standard warranty but for multiple years, including a 5-day turnaround on defective equipment, with optional 48-hour turnaround. The Comprehensive Warranty covers not only defects, but normal wear and use, accidental breakage, and covers cables, power supplies and batteries.

POS-X Rapid Replacement Warranty
The POS-X Rapid Replacement warranty plan provides a low cost method to minimize downtime in the unfortunate event of equipment failure. The warranty improves upon the standard warranty by providing next day shipment of replacement equipment, as well as covering shipping costs both ways. With 3 to 5 year warranties for many of their products, the POS-X Rapid Replacement Warranty ensures peace of mind.

Epson ExpressCare Service Options
Epson's ExpressCare Service coverage allows you to pick the service features that you need most for your business. Take your pick from on-site installation service, fast turnaround on repairs, spare-in-the-air replacement, or extended care service plans, mixing and matching as needed. By separating the options, you only have to pay for the services you need, saving you money.

Datalogic Maintenance Agreements
Datalogic's Maintenance Agreements feature three tiers of coverage. Service Plus 5-Day, Service Plus 2-Day, and Quick Replacement Programs allow you to ensure your barcode scanner or mobile computer is covered appropriately. Shipping is covered each way, and turnaround is determined by the level of program you choose. Their program also covers free upgrades to newer specifications, updating your barcode scanner or mobile computer in the event of repair being needed.

Star Micronics Service Agreements
Star Micronics offers two service agreements to cover their receipt printers in the unfortunate event of equipment breakdown. The Extend-A-Star program provides a bumper to bumper warranty with prompt repair turnarounds. Swap-A-Star builds on the Extend-A-Star program, giving you 24-hour printer replacement, and paid shipping both ways. Available as a 3 or 4 year warranty, Star's Service Agreements keep you covered and minimize downtime from receipt printer failure.
