Closed-Circuit (CCTV) Systems
Closed-Circuit security systems route wiring from the camera directly to some type of receiver, usually a digital video recorder (DVR) or multi-input telivision, without broadcasting the video signal. CCTV systems are usually lower cost solutions, as the signal is sent via analog cables and doesn't require conversion or much configuration.

IP-based Security Cameras
IP-based security camera systems use your existing network infrastructure to send digital video information to any PC with access. IP cameras broadcast out the video signal on your network, making them less secure by default, but security can be improved via configuration. Utilizing wired or wireless network connections, IP-based cameras are a more versatile, but more costly, solution.
