Additional Information On Signature Capture
Signature Capture pads are devices that capture the digital signature of a
person, and are commonly used for financial transactions, software
distribution, etc.
The purpose of capturing a digital signature is a valid digital signature gives
a recipient reason to believe that the message was created by a known sender,
and that it was not altered in transit. A digital signature is any legally
recognized electronic means that indicates that a person adopts the contents of
an electronic message. Examples would be signing off at a bank for a
transaction or at a retail store for a credit card charge.
PINpads are normally used with integrated point of sale devices in which the
POS system is responsible for taking the sale amount and initiating/handling
the transaction. Pinpads are the devices that make you enter a number code or
PIN code to allow a charge from your credit card, EBT, or DEBIT card.
The signature capture pads that are used for credit card charges also are
encrypted devices. Credit Card processors will require these devices to be
encrypted to secure the transmission of the cardholders bank information.
POSGuys.com sells these devices, but they are not encrypted. This way it is
open to any potential buyer for the device and they will have to be in charge
of having the device encrypted with their particular credit card
processor.
