The purpose of capturing a digital signature is a valid digital signature gives

PINpads are normally used with integrated point of sale devices in which the POS system is responsible for taking the sale amount and initiating/handling the transaction. Pinpads are the devices that make you enter a number code or PIN code to allow a charge from your credit card, EBT, or DEBIT card.
The signature capture pads that are used for credit card charges also are encrypted devices. Credit Card processors will require these devices to be encrypted to secure the transmission of the cardholders bank information. POSGuys.com sells these devices, but they are not encrypted. This way it is open to any potential buyer for the device and they will have to be in charge of having the device encrypted with their particular credit card processor.
